Yavanna is a luminous figure from J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium, one of the Valar—the powerful, godlike beings who shaped the world of Arda (the world where Middle-earth exists). Her name in Quenya means “Giver of Fruits.” She’s deeply connected to the earth, growth, and all living things that spring from the soil.

Her Essence and Role

•Guardian of all growing things: Yavanna is the protector of plants, trees, and the natural abundance of the world. Everything that grows or bears fruit falls under her care.

•Creator of the Two Trees of Valinor: She sang the song that brought forth Telperion and Laurelin, the sacred trees whose light once illuminated the world before the Sun and Moon were created.

•Compassionate and wise: She often defended the balance of life, asking her husband Aulë (the Vala of crafts and metalwork) and others to remember the living world whenever they shaped stone or forged things of power.
