The Drum connects us instantaniously with ancient wisdom.
The same beat has been repeated for eons in the past and will be echoing into the future. In that sense it is truely a timeless instrument that brings us here and now.
And there are more properties and effects of the Drum than you probably expect...
The rythmic beating brings us into alpha or theta brainwaves which associate with meditative states of mind.
It has been scientifically explained that after ten minutes of a repetetive sound of a Drum, Rattle or whatever sound; we get into a trance-like state.
Also the right-brain activation is opening you up for more creativity while intuïtion is enhanced.
A steady beat reminds us of the heartbeat, the safety of the whomb that is mirrored.
This can bring total relaxation of the nervous system.
The Drum is a perfect buddy to sit with in difficult and hard moments.
It can be a guide to your inner world where emotions can be touched and felt deeply.
Following that flow of your own drumbeat to those places of pain and sorrow that seldomly are exposed makes the Drum a priceless therapeutic instrument.
Stress release is obviously happening when those (stuck) heavy emotions can come up while drumming and maybe are shouted out.
Whenever we hit our Drum, we strike it with our arm, wrist and hand which spontaneously shifts our focus from the mind to the body.
This grounds us even more.
And let's not forget the joy and playfulnes drumming sparks...

Drumming together, we tune in with each other. Doing that very same thing, maybe in a circle, makes us one.
Boundaries fade...
You are striking your drum but hear the sound of the other.
That rythmic beat in a group opens a heartspace where Unity emerges profoundly.
Eventually the experience becomes a celebration of all that is...

the Drum brings:
Stress release
Right-brain activation
Alpha or Theta brain wave sync
Grounding
Heartbeat resonance
Connection
Ancient wisdom
Playfulness
